Beverley Callard was “in serious talks” to do Strictly Come Dancing before her hip surgery.
The Coronation Street actress, who has played Liz McDonald for 30 years, appeared on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Wednesday (September 23) and addressed rumours.
She said: “I have to say they’ve asked me a few times over the years [for I’m A Celebrity] and I’ve always thought ‘no absolutely not, absolutely not.’
“One of my dreams is to do Strictly so please tell [fellow guest] Oti [Mabuse] that cause I adore her, I’m a massive fan and I love the show.”
She continued: “I wouldn’t win by any means but I’d love to learn how to do it and I was in serious talks with them about doing that before this hip thing happened.
“As to the rumours about the jungle, I actually don’t know when I’m going be… I have to wait until my consultant says I’m fit enough to go back to work.
“So I truly don’t know if that could happen or not.”
Beverley Callard hip operation and Coronation Street exit
Last year, it was revealed that Beverley would be leaving the ITV soap in 2020.
However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, soaps halted production and changes had to be made.
It was reported last month that Beverley’s time on the show was over, despite no exit scenes airing.

However, Beverley later revealed she underwent a hip operation back in March and was meant to be back on set within days.
But things didn’t go to plan as the actress was left in agonising pain and needing a full hip replacement.
Although the actress was left fearing she wouldn’t walk again, she confirmed that she was off crutches.
