Ann Widdecombe faced a backlash in the Celebrity Big Brother house when she made some controversial comments about Prince Harry’s fiancee Meghan Markle.
The former Tory MP said she thought the American divorcee was “trouble”.
She said the “background and attitude” of the Suits star made her “uneasy” about her joining the royal family.
Many CBB viewers were disgusted by her comments and tweeted at the time to say they thought she was being unfair towards the mixed race actress.
Now the 70-year-old has appeared on Good Morning Britain to better explain just what she meant.
She told Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid: “I just am very dubious that someone, who has made a life in those sorts of films and has been married before, comes over and has to become an active member of a very, very stuffy, traditional family.
“I think that would be quite difficult.”
She continued: “But Harry is sufficiently far removed from the throne that if he has to make modifications to the role he will be able to do it.”
Ann added that she’s realised she has to be more “careful” about voicing her outspoken views as “everything can be misinterpreted.”
Harry, 33 and Meghan, 36, have already shown they’re not afraid to modernise the royal family.
