Shobna Gulati, star of The Serial Killerâs Wife â which airs tonight (Friday, December 27) â was once awarded a six-figure sum after having her phone hacked.
The hacking, which was settled in 2015, caused Shobna and her family much distress. It even led to her speaking out in court at the time.

Shobna became a regular feature on British television in the early noughties when she joined iconic soap Coronation Street as Sunita Alahan.
However, things started to go wrong in 2003, when her phone was hacked for the first time by the Mirror Group.
Soon after, an article about her âsecret marriageâ was published in a tabloid. This led to her writing to the Press Complaints Commission. Her son was bullied so much about the articles that he was forced to leave when he was 14.
Shobna was left confused as to where the information came from. She accused her then-partner of leaking the story to the press. This led to their relationship ending.
Speaking in the High Court in 2015 as she gave evidence, Shobna explained why sheâd written to the Press Complaints Commission.
âIâm a single mum living on my own with my son. I believed it wasnât in the public interest that the parentage of my child would be debated in a Sunday newspaper so I wrote this letter,â she said.
âI was in a very unsure positionâ
Another story published by the tabloids claimed that Shobna had been âdumpedâ by her then-partner, as well as Corrie bosses.
They also claimed that she would be heading into the jungle for Iâm A Celebrity.
Speaking in court, Shobna said that the only way the tabloid could have gotten the information was by listening to her voicemails. She explained that sheâd never been offered a spot on the hit ITV show, and had only been joking about it in a message.
However, her son, who was 11 at the time, was so concerned that she was heading Down Under that he ran away.

Speaking in court, Shobna said: âI was in a very unsure position. My mother had also been seriously ill that year and, given Iâm a single parent, my son was really concerned who was going to look after him if I was going into the jungle.â
Former Doctor Who star Shobna received a written apology from the tabloid. However, she described it as being âhollow and disingenuousâ.
