Seven-time Formula One champion was admitted to Georges-Pompidou hospital in Paris earlier this week, a report claims.
He has allegedly undergone transfusions of inflammation-reducing stem cells after he suffered a near-fatal brain injury in a skiing accident in 2013.
According to Le Parisien, a nurse revealed that the 50-year-old is now conscious after undergoing surgery.
“Yes, he is in my service… And I can assure you that he is conscious,” the nurse told the French newspaper.
The German is expected to be discharged from the hospital in France today after having the groundbreaking surgery.

After the terrible skiing accident, Schumacher’s condition stabilised when he was placed in a drug-induced coma.
He later emerged from the coma and since September 2014 the racing champion has been receiving specialist care at his home in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Le Parisien reported Schumacher has been treated at least twice before his latest stay at the same hospital.
The newspaper cited unnamed sources and added that he was admitted each time under a false name and treated by a small medical team.
