Coronation Street legend reportedly returning to the soap ‘for a good few weeks’

It's 'not a permanent arrangement'

Coronation Street revealed last year that they would be tackling the topic of male rape as David Platt will be attacked by newcomer Josh.

Now it has been reported that a former legend of the cobbles will return to support David after his ordeal.

His father, Martin Platt, played by Sean Wilson will be back for an “extended period” for the first time in nearly 13 years.

The 52-year-old actor, who played womanising Martin for 20 years, left the soap in 2005 and has since had a complete career change to become a cheese-maker.

Sean told the Mirror last summer that he would return to acting if the right offer came along.

Now it seems he has been convinced to make his Corrie comeback thanks to the upcoming hard-hitting storyline, which Corrie scriptwriters will consult with rape charities on to ensure it’s handled with the accuracy and sensitivity.

A show source told The Sun that Sean will be back in Weatherfield for “a good few weeks.”
