Right in the middle of all the glitz and glamour of Wednesday night’s BRIT Awards was the most adorable story.
Radio 1 Breakfast host, Greg James melted hearts everywhere, when he took along a recently-dumped and heartbroken teacher to the fancy awards do as his guest, with fans calling him: “The nicest person ever.”
Greg, 33, spoke to Katie, 29, last week on his show, when she shared her sad tale of getting dumped by her boyfriend of eight months, just before Valentine’s Day.
She told him: “To make it worse it’s his birthday next week and I’ve spent a lot – a lot – of money on presents.” The DJ replied: “That sucks so bad,” before offering to take her to the prestigious event as his plus one.
Documenting the night via InstaStories, Greg showed them arriving at the BRITs, celeb spotting, watching Hugh Jackman’s performance, and then partying until the early hours. He also confessed to being “drunk” and said Katie was having to look after him.
Taking to Instagram the next morning from his BBC studio, Greg wrote: “A happy but hungover ending for Katie. We invited her to the Brits to take her mind off her recent breakup…then she co-hosted the show this morning. We survived! Just.”
