“The police and hospital are being fantastic. Thank you for all your messages.

“It is an appalling time for him and our family. The police will be appealing for witnesses.”

Ahead of Elizabeth’s social media post confirming the incident, The Sun had reported that the 52-year-old had flown back to the UK from New York, after being informed of the distressing news.

The tabloid claimed that model Miles had been injured following an altercation and that “his family had feared the worst”.

Earlier, Metropolitan Police had issued a statement regarding a knife attack in south London on Thursday night.

It read: “Police were called at 20:52hrs on Thursday, 8 March to Ascalon Street, SW8 following reports of a stabbing.

“Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service (LAS). A 21-year-old man (victim 1) was discovered with stab wounds to his back.

“Another man, also aged 21 (victim 2), was also found suffering from stab wounds.

“They were both taken by LAS to a south London hospital – victim 1 remains there; his condition is described as not life-threatening or life-changing. Victim 2 has been discharged following treatment.

“They are believed to have been attacked by a group of males (no further details) who got out of a vehicle and assaulted them before fleeing the scene.
