Grace was born on September 6, 1906, five years after Queen Victoria passed away.

The mother-of-one took the title of the oldest UK person last summer after the previous oldest person, Olive Boar, died aged 113.

Grace’s daughter Deirdre McCarthy, 80, said her mum lived a “very fulfilling” life before her death.

Speaking to the BBC, Deirdre said: “I never dreamt when I was a little girl that my mother would be the talking point of the whole country.
