Frozen food company Birds Eye has issued an urgent product recall after bits of plastic were found in bags of chicken nuggets.
The American firm has said some of its Birds Eye 50 Chicken Nuggets with Golden Wholegrain, in 790g bags, could contain small pieces of clear plastic.
On its website, the company explained that affected bags would be “unsafe to eat” and urged shoppers to check near the best before date to see if theirs was among the batches believed to be affected.

The recalled batches are those with the codes L9208 W V124, L9208 X V124, L9208 Y V124 or L9208 Z V124 near the best before end date, which is October 2020.
Birds Eye said anyone who finds one of the above batch codes on a bag they have bought can cut out the part of the packaging with the code and send it to the firm’s address in London – Birds Eye Limited Freepost, ADM3939, London, SW1A 1YS.
Alternatively, customers have the option of taking it back to the store where they made the purchase for a full refund.
